laundry

laundry is one of the most difficult tasks for me. especially putting it away—it feels so overwhelming. anyone have any hacks for motivating yourself to put the laundry away?

Just letting you know- I’m not alone- my exec function isn’t awesome right now 😂 I find the same with dishes- can wash and dry- hate putting it away, But with the laundry- I know everyone has their own way So normally- because I don’t have a plug in drier for my clothes , I use a clothes horse a lot of the time (shared flat clotheslines ) After it’s washed straight to the clothes horse (if I take it to the line outside, it’s out of veiw out of mind. It’s there for a week because I forget about it 😔) Once dry from the clothes horse- There’s two options I use: I either fold them as they come off the line or the clothes horse- as I fold each peice it’s designated to a pile - who’s laundry.. mine .bf.child. And as soon as it’s folded (all of it) I just pick up a pile at a time which is either a per room basis or a section of the house like a linen closet or the kitchen This seems to work for me Or alternatively if I don’t fold it when I take it off the clothes line it goes on a lounge room chair, I normally fold them at night after dinner watching a show either in my phone or in the tv

Haha!!! Me too!!! Washing, drying and folding -no problem. Putting it away? Nope. I have to cover the table first, so I HAVE TO DO IT, in order to have a place to eat.

I have the same problem. I have a laundry basket in literally évery room of the house (seriously, I'm not kidding). The washing and drying isn't really a problem, it's the putting away after it's folded. Right now, I'm trying folding the laundry in front of the wardrobes upstairs, while listening to a podcast. Every item that's folded, is immediately put in the right closet. It takes forever and there's a lot of walking around, but I use a speaker instead of headphones, so I always have to return to where the unfolded laundry is, aaaand all things considered, this way, the clean clothes actually eventually end up in the wardrobes, instead of crumpled in the basket/strewn on the floor/mixed up with the dirty laundry/...

I have clean laundry just sitting all wrinkled in the basket... It truly wasn't important enough relative to the other tasks, so it got sacrificed. It gets another dryer ride. I forgot to delegate when I started reprioritizing.

Meeeee too! My son also. I bought him 3 laundry baskets and a hamper. I put the baskets on a rolling cart. No expectation for him to fold or hang up anything. He just rolls his cart to the laundry room, unloads from the dryer and rolls it back to his closet. Sometimes his clothes are wrinkled and we gotta toss him in the dryer to straighten them back out but, you know where the clothes aren’t? All over the house or his bedroom or bathroom. It’s made both of our lives so much easier.
