What are your sleep hacks?

I’ve always had a horrible time sleeping, my mind doesn’t ever stop and is constantly making me rethink all my life choices and conversations lol. Do you guys have any hacks that help you? Thanks so much!

I take 20 mg of melatonin (I know, it’s a lot). I’ve found that Ashwaganda helps significantly if I remember to take it. I try to follow a wind down routine, but I usually end up getting distracted.

My new naturopath has me on a combo of gabapentin and progesterone (the estimated amount I would have had in my body when I was pregnant and sleeping at will). Nighty Night tea is icing on the sleep cake. This is the only thing that has worked for me. Ambien is out of the question, as the last time I took it at a conference in Istanbul, I found 3 pictures of my feet in the air without any memory of taking them. It scared the living crap out of me.

I turn off all social media/TV at least 1 hour before I'm going to bed. I take a hot bath and drink nighttime tea,

I love to do the same. But I have issues with doing “nice things” for myself. How dis you get yourself to start this routine?

The most helpful thing for me to short out the constant thinking is to do circular breathing. I learned the method from Wim Hoff but I believe there are a lot of iterations you can try. The thing about it that works for me is it requires counting the breaths, it’s forceful in out so there’s a sense of getting out some fidgets, and then there are breath holds that help to put you into the physical state to sleep. It also has helped me with mindfulness and meditation which had never made sense to me before lol. There are some other breathwork things that are specifically for sleeping but… they’re not aggressive enough for me but they’re worth a shot you might like them.

I have the same issue - I tend to play games or watch tv until I pass out

I play sudoku and listen to audiobooks on the back ground. But got into the thread to see what you all are doing. I need to find a better way.

Oh lordy. I'm the same. And I'm screwed if I get really into whatever I shouldn't be watching at 4am.
