I’ll do it later

I’m a mental health therapist and this is the best tip I have to give. If you ever find yourself saying you’ll do a task later that takes, DO IT RIGHT THEN. Saying you’ll do it later is the kiss of death and it helps build new neuropathy.

Posts and comments here share personal experience — not medical advice. For treatment questions, talk to a clinician.

I’m still trying to figure out this app. I’d like to be in your squad. How do I do that?

I’ve been trying to get this through my husbands head too! He ALWAYS says, no! Right now I’m going to do this for myself! I’ll do this later! Two weeks later my gas tank is STILL almost empty, he still needs to go to DEQ for new tags, I end up just washing pans, so annoying. I mean, I’m no where near better! But I HAVE had therapists calls me out on this. And so it’s a habit I’ve been breaking myself of. And IF I DO do it later. Then I’m putting a reminder with priority in my phone. I’m putting on alarms, ANYTHING, to hold myself more accountable. And WHEN I don’t, I use THAT as my motivator for the next time of why I won’t push it off for later!

I've found that this works for me! I've been doing this over the years, now it comes more naturally than to just do the thing ASAP
