Hack Procrastination
Hello there! I see a lot of comments on being stuck when needing to clean or whatever. I wanted to share a new hack I learned called the rule of 17. Basically when you are super overwhelmed and just not motivated but you know you need to get stuff done, you agree to doing 17 things. The number 17 is ADHD friendly as in it isn’t too big or too small. It’s just right. We can all do 17 things. So for example: if you have laundry to put away: I say ok I just have to put away 17 things. When I get done with the 17 things I have finished my task! Woohoo! That’s a win! What normally happens though is 17 is just the right amount to kick my brain into driving mode and I’ll go on to complete more tasks. I almost never stop at 17. I always end up doing way more. So that’s a bonus! Woohoo another win! I also find that putting on some over the ear headphones and playing some kind of dance/electronic type music to wake my brain up and kick it into a flow.
