AMA: Program Manager at Apple with ADHD

You are not alone in your struggle. If what I've learned in my successful journey can help you, share with me what you're going through. While I can't discuss the specifics of my work, I can try to help you with strategies and perspectives on your unique situation based on what I've learned. More of what I write on ADHD is here: https://adamgrant.info

Hi Adam, the picture is spot on ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. That is exactly my brain. Thank you for taking time to share your tips & tricks. I used to be very effective despite (and because of) my adhd. ( management in large construction firms/ real estate) but my adhd has worsened a lot since covid. So your website is very helpful now for me to find a new framework to work on. My basic problem right now is that my job drains me from dopamine. Since i had a lot of concentration issues I switched to a more easy job. However it is better for me not to get stressed, technical complexity hugely interested me. How were you able to stay functioning high level, while nog get drained from your energy?

I find itโ€™s common for me to encounter situations (usually with those who are very organized, aka not ADHD), to give directions/feedback that are โ€œclear.โ€ I can be a perfectionist sometimes to cope with adhd, but I genuinely try my best to complete the task or apply the feedback. And then it turns into a โ€œif we have to discuss this again,โ€ moment, when I really thought I was doing the right thing. I do ask questions if Iโ€™m unsure. I hope that makes sense.
