Job notice

So I have to give my 2 weeks notice to my job and I am a wreck. Not only am I giving my notice but it’s at a small business of close family friends. Not to mention they are already in a staffing bind. I need this new job for multiple reasons…financial stability, benefits, routine schedule, etc. the list goes on. My boss is like family & also VERY intimidating. Not to mention HIGHLY stressed in a next level way. In (my) situations like this I either wait till last minute & quit OR stop showing up. Not an option in my panic mode. SEND HELP!

When I was younger I faced the same problem. I sacrificed my future to help the family once but when the opportunity for an even better position came up I couldn’t pass this time - I turned in my notice in person and tried to talk to them but just like some people - the “family” didn’t care that I was trying to better myself - they only cared that I was “hurting them” and dropped me like a hot rock!! Wouldn’t even acknowledge me if they saw me in town. People usually don’t care about anyone but themselves and rarely appreciate the sacrifices you make for them. Take care of yourself and your future - in then end that’s all you will have anyway! (I wish I had learned this lesson much much sooner in life)

I know it’s super tough, Ive been there myself. If they truly care about you and are really like family, they will understand that you are doing so to get the things you need financially. This could also be an opportunity to tell them that you would rather stay with them and talk about a pay raise? If that’s not the option then they need to understand where you are coming from. One thing in life is true, No one truly has your back like you have your own. You have to take care of yourself. If they are the “family” type. They will miss you but they will also be happy for you on your personal growth. The Bos may even say to use him as a reference. :)

May I ask why you need to quit this job? Only asking to better help not be nosy. ☺️

Pay is ok but not enough to live on. No benefits, sick time, pto etc. no room for growth. No worries! Thank you for asking!

I’ve struggled with the same experience, in sending you all of my positive energy , but remember we have to prioritize our need
