If you're on medication, how long did it take to find the right dose?

I'm only on day 2 of methylphenidate, but after the initial tiny system shock yesterday I don't feel anything. I though the improvement would last more than 24hrs before my body was like "Bored now. Please try again next time."

Thankfully I know I’m a lightweight thanks to genetic testing we did specifically around med tolerance so I dialed in really quickly

Has anyone felt more tired when taking meds, I also kind of feel my thinking is even slower than normal kind of brain foggy!

That can happen as your body adjusts to them. My anti depressant had me a zombie for the first few weeks but once I got used to it it was fine. Not saying it’ll be that way for everyone but on-ramp of meds can certainly do that.

I wish we could have a window into a “normal” brain so we could see if meds working. I’ve been on Elvanse for around 10 weeks and can’t say i feel too much difference! Other half says I’m slightly less chaotic and ditzy though! Only on 50mg atm though.

You’re not always gonna be the best gauge of your own behavior. Asking others is key.

once i found the right group for me (the "adderalls") it took a couple months to sort the fact i needed extended release with re-ups of instant

I do two smaller doses of extended staggered instead of one all at once that just made me a waking constant panic attack

It took me over a year to find the right med with minimal side effects and I still have that feeling of, “is it working or not?” Sorry to say but not everyone gets the clear head from the second you start meds.

Takes everyone a bit different but can be 4-6 weeks for the body to build it up and figure out what to do with it. *not a doctor (insomniac with a knack for research).
