Medication

Hey I’m very new to this app, I made a post last night regarding ADHD medications and if they are good or not. I have been on the medication Dexamphetamine for just over a month now. I am now in hospital tonight because I accidentally overdosed on the prescription dose I was given. Apparently my anti depressant “paroxetine” is not allowed to mix with dexamphetamine, apparently it can cause very serious and deadly effects if you take both of these medications together.. they are taking my bloods to see if Ive got something called “serotonin syndrome” they are also testing the toxicity in my blood to see if it was an accidental overdose of the two medications. So just incase you guys didn’t know this I wanted to just tell everyone to be careful when prescribed certain medications as they may not mix with other prescribed medication.

Oh my! Hope you are healing well. It seems like your doctor should know this information before they prescribe. And if they don’t catch it, the pharmacy should. So sorry it sounds like they both failed you. Just remember, you’re one tough cookie coming through this and a very kind human being for warning others

Hope you’re ok 😳 your doctor should know that, that’s why it’s prescription medicine 🤯

I completely agree! It is her job to know these things and as she was well aware of all the medications I take and the 2 heart conditions I have ( long QT syndrome & POTS ) but still thought I would be fine on this medication? I had to call an ambulance because my heart was beating that fast I thought I was having a heart attack, turns out I was overdosing
