Money Impulsivity

I have been recently diagnosed in my 60’s! I’ll save my feelings about that for another time. Anyway, as I’m working through all my emotions and realizing that I’m not a lazy procrastinator with an inability to manage money, I am learning that I have a serious issue with spending. I’m almost finished getting my emails down from 60K to 2K and am seeing that I have bought things that I have zero recollection of buying. I think my biggest issue is buying apps and downloads online thinking my life will magically get better and then forgetting about it. Does anyone else struggle with this? Does anyone have any advice?

I too struggle with impulse buying! Its one of my worst ADHD simptoms. I wish I could give you some advice but haven't discovered any as of yet. Was hoping to get some here. I often spend to the point I don't have what I need to pay bills & buy essentials. I always feel sick afterwards. When I realize what I've done. It always makes sense while I'm doing it. But just a few minutes later I feel sick to my stomach & wish I could take it back but often can't. The returns desk at many of the stores here know me well.

I am almost 47 & my therapist suggested I might be a year ago. Have tried several medications (none stimulants because they hesitate to prescribe those) & nothing has worked.

I think talking to like minded people will help now 60 but still going for diagnosis’s suspected for a little while how this app helps

I too have trouble with spending impulsively. Mostly on mobile games and subscriptions for things like you said. Each month I say I am going to fill out a lovely spreadsheet with all my outgoings etc but do I heck! I don't have any advice but just to say you're not alone. x

Omgg yesss. I'm actually afraid that's what's gonna happen with this app lol hopefully not. It's a struggle for sure. I was told all my life, and fully believed, that my symptoms were character flaws and if I tried hard enough I could fix them, and always failed. Now I know why.

This hurts my heart for you 😢 I feel the same but I’m only 37 and am figuring out the truth now. A friend who has ADHD identified it and now I’m seeking a formal diagnosis. The symptoms all fit.
