Diagnosis in progress

Hi everyone! In 10 days I have my first appointment to get a diagnosis on ADHD - And I’m getting nervous. I’m scared they will tell me off and not diagnose me with ADHD. But since finding out about adult adhd every question I ever had and every struggle I had as a kid or still have, has made sense. Dad is supportive, Mom not so much (but tbh while learning more about adhd i started to understand my mother’s behaviour more and more - i guess she could have it as well). Well anyways, just nervous over here and procrastinating by scrolling through the app!😬 is there anyone who can relate?

I actually thought about your post a lot “if you do present with adhd, your psychiatrist will now”….that really helped me to trust myself and the doctor😊😊

Hii so nice of you to ask, tbh after the first appointment I was super down as it was not at all what I expected from it, but now I had three appointments and two more coming up. It’s actually going super well now!! I don’t have a diagnosis yet, but the last time he told me that I really do present strong symptoms that could lead to the diagnosis and that helped me a lot already because after the first appointment I felt like maybe I should just quit it and never think about it again🥲 but I’m happy I kept going🙏🏼

I was like this too when in the process of getting diagnosed as an adult. I was scared that my answers wouldn’t be enough to diagnose me & that they were gonna say I don’t have it cause I’ve managed to cope/find routine that helps me in my daily life. I went thru a lot of testing & given verbal+ handwritten questions. - it literally took me 3 days to complete the written document cause distractions & I drew on the papers 🤣 fast forward I got diagnosed at 22 & I’m now 24 medicated. It’s funny because reading my diagnosis, my psych diagnosed things I wasn’t even aware of during my consult. Conclusion: There’s nothing to worry about, if you do present with ADHD, I promise you ur psychiatrist will know. 😆 I wish you the best outcome for you appointment 😊

It’s an exciting and curious feeling once you’ve finalised an appointment. I just wanted the days to fly pass for it. You’ll have plenty of support on this app too 😊

Hiii thanks so much for your answer and sharing your experience! I’m 24 too😅 I have the exact same fear you describe…especially when people tell you they „don’t think you have adhd”. I know I just have to wait but It’s nice to know you’re not alone with those feelings. I’m happy for you that you got your diagnosis and are going your own path!😊
