Being productive

Does anyone have any tips on being productive and starting tasks? I’ve been having a hard time because it feels like no matter how much I want to get something done, I struggle to overcome the mental barrier to do it. It’s really been weighing on me lately

Focusmate.com If you have something that you know you want to get done, you need someone to kind of be accountable to. It really works well. It's free

When im struggling to break through inertia, my sibling often supports me by simply being present. Having them in the room, on a zoom call, or even on the phone helps me have a sense of accountability which helps me get started and redirect back to task faster. There are a couple of companies that host accountability zoom calls designed to provide a sense of being noticed which encourages staying on task. I have also had some success using timers or, if possible, going to a specific location like a library to put myself in the headspace of whatever it is I'm doing.

I have to break down my tasks into smaller ones, then after that break them down smaller. Sometimes it takes me a few days to get one big task completed. But it's worth congratulating yourself even if it's halfway completed. I treat my tasks like a quest in a video game. It might take a while to complete but congratulate yourself out loud after you've made any sort of progress!

Do the initial action, the rest should follow. I wanted to make kombucha but was kind of tired. I boiled water and added tea bags, now I was committed and there wasn’t much to think about to complete all the steps. This was new insight for me.

Start really small and be easy on yourself. I can’t wait to see if this app will work for me. Hope it works for you and everyone in this space.

I find putting my shoes on gets me started and keeps me going. I have also said, I’ll just fold one shirt and then once it’s started I can’t stop so the whole thing gets folded even though my brain keeps telling me to stop.

I have struggled with this most of my life. Numo has helped me. I now now that the key is not to think to much just START. Starting is the first key, the second one is to do it in very small steps. You do this and then after a few steps you turn on automatic. Might take a day or few days. I have had so many productive days with this method. Then when l stop it is ok, not perfect. I then have to start with the baby steps again.

I also highly recomend the Numo topics. I started with procrastination and decided to stick to one topic
