Do some research on Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS). I have never been a morning person, anyone who dared talk to me before my coffee would pay a heavy price, I started drinking coffee at 16. I just recently was diagnosed with ADHD, and have been doing a hyper focused info dive on it. Came across DSPS and honestly was a game changer. One of the treatments recommended was light therapy. Make sure daylight hits your retinas within a half hour of waking up. You're supposed to talk to a specialist to appropriately expose yourself to daylight to gradually reset your sleep pattern.... But ain't nobody got time for that. I went on Amazon, and bought daylight lightbulbs. I replaced every lightbulb on the main floor, and in the bedrooms. I noticed a difference the first day! Bonus: they also help with wintertime blues. The other thing that I needed to do, which I hated even the thought of doing but is soooo worth it, was cutting out coffee 😖. I replaced it with cacao powder in hot water (with a tiny bit of sugar, and cream). It's not a stimulant, but because it's rich in many of the minerals, and vitamins people with ADHD are deficient in, and promotes the brain to produce the chemicals our ADHD brains are deficient in it actually balances out your body to not need caffeine. You do need a build up of it before it starts working 100%, but you should only need 1 cup/go mug of it a day. On occasion I have felt extra tired in the morning like I NEED coffee(due to interrupted sleep, or choosing to stay up past my bed time), so I have one(I put a scoop of cacao powder in too, so I don't lose my build up), and it totally messes up my sleep schedule for three days or more of I decided to continue the morning coffee bad life choice. Seriously! Cutting out coffee was the best thing I've done for my sleep, and energy levels, but it has been the most begrudging thing I've ever quit.

I really needed to read that comment today. My ex who I have offered access to begged help me with our two girls , served me with court papers. But when I ask him to take the kids every other weekend (my mom is also someone I reside with and she is going through chemo and does need help some times and I have two pounds of paper work and a lawyer who’s not answering. The kids have always resided with me. Always.

Yes. I’d like to quote a great Jack Johnson verse . I like to “wake up slow.” 😍

Yes, I am not a morning person, I'm most definitely a night owl, I am way more productive in the afternoons and evenings. However I I have children, and they love to wake up at 6 in the morning😭. Often I am grumpy with myself because I'm tired and unmotivated and can't seem to get online to get stuff done. Recently I've been giving myself some grace though to realize when my productive time is and realizing that I can have my own personal productive schedule. So after the kids are fed it's ok to chill on the couch maybe even play a game on my phone while they watch tv. Then in the afternoon when I'm finally in a more motivated space I can get way more done instead of kicking myself in the mornings because I should be productive then because "They" say so. Now obviously there are times we have obligations and we just have to do the best we can. Also I realize I'm saying this from a sahm perspective and this maynot be possible for all situations and for that please forgive me as I realize now this could be a bit short sighted of me. I do hope you give yourself some grace though! ❤️

This happens to me when I get 8+ hours of sleep. 7 or less and I’m up right away but underlyingly tired all day

I feel the same way! No matter how long I sleep, I just can't seem to wake up completely for 2 or 3 hours.

Yes! And often by the time I feel “right” most of the morning has passed and then guilt sets in
