Music it is also my best bet, and must be the sing along ones, sad, happy, whatever, when I am singing them it is like I am invencible! 😅
If it’s something like at your desk I found completely clearing the space except for things relevant to task kinda sets the scene and makes me feel “ready” to do the thing. Setting a glass of water or drink down … makes it seem more appealing
Sometimes just have to accept that you’ve ran out of juice and reflect/take note of what’s lead to you not having the energy, maybe you’ve put all your focus juice into something less important… or like me most weeks … haven’t slept / had dinner the previous night. Etc …. Beating yourself up is never the move but so easy to do
when i’m struggling with motivation i play music, sometimes my favourite song can get me moving. i sit up, put it on and before i know it i’m off my bed and beginning to do tasks somewhat <3
What works for me is lessening the demand I’ve created around tasks. Then Taking that small step and no More…unless I really want to. Hope this helps!
When I can’t get motivated, it is generally because what I need to accomplish is too great or too much. Or it is because I have too much time to get it done, or worse yet( your gonna love this one!!) because I am mad at my husband and he has gripped and bugged and complained about something much too much too long and constantly that I haven’t done good enough, fast enough, or his way, or undid his way, you get the point…so I don’t do it at all. But to get motivated I find a good easy place to start. Then work my way out. I try to gather like items together to prevent from having to do it again, hence it takes me awhile to actually organize anything and clean up any OnE space. It has to be several spaces at the same time because I am gathering like items together. Which means the barn, garage, bedrooms, basement, closet. This drives hubby crazy. Nuts! He fails to understand it. But if that was one of my goals, which I like and the end goal is to prove to him I do great work, I did my job. That’s how I do it, and at the end of the day, just set stuff aside in bins or boxes to the side in positivity of your progress. This works for me and don’t let the “ has to be cleaned up by bedtime” people bring you down. Yes I am married to an control freak!
everytime someone discourages me or tells me to give up on my dreams i remember a quote that i found while reading: “You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and an embarrassment to others.”
2 play lists on Spotify- 1. This is the Cat Empire. It gets me moving if what I need to do is physical 2. ADHD Ficus Music 2023. This one helps if what I'm doing is more if a mental task. Also, I think "how will future me feel if this is/isn't done?". Sometimes thinking if future me as a different person helps.
Motoecycles motivate me. It's a deeply focused activity. I love riding because when on the bike the only thing I can think of is riding it, all else melts away.
I tend to not look at the task as whole but it’s smaller parts. I focus on the smaller parts get them done and then combine them like a MEGAZORD.
