What do you do?

I tried therapy and both therapist I’ve had I’ve dropped because it felt too superficial. I feel too self aware for them, I don’t want to keep hopping between them before I find someone, it’s so emotionally draining but I guess that I don’t have a choice? Also haven’t had a psychological evaluation done to prove I have adhd but too many thing ma correlate, maybe this will help.

A real diagnosis is helpful. It is something concrete to work with when everything feels tumultuous . I have learned from trial and error: 1. Be your own advocate, although exhausting, cause no one else can do it for you. 2. Choose a professional that can accurately diagnose you AND can prescribe the best Rx and therapy for you. 2. Don’t feel you SHOULD deal with ADHD without Rx. Not unless you like the emotional strain you feel now. 3. It takes trail and error to find the meds that will help you. Be open and tell you doctor how the Rx med(s) helped or how it did not. Work WITH your doctor until you find the right Rx for you. THERE IS NO ONE DRUG THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE. 2. Approach talk therapy with an open mind. It is important to find the right person but it may take 3-4 appts to really know. 3. Tell the therapist upfront that you found the previous therapists superficial. Explain why. 3. THIS IS A BIG ONE: 👉🏽If you walk away from an hour talk session… with just ONE thing that was helpful, CONSIDER IT A SUCCESS. 5. A therapist that specializes in ADHD is a plus. Many well educated counselors, even PhD’s don’t fully understand ADHD issues.

Have you tried a psychiatrist? For the evaluation?

I understand 💛 my friend tried a psychiatrist that is free, the Government pays her, She made a request because she couldn’t afford it as well. My anxiety does the same to me, but my medication has helped me a lot the last 3 years.

No I’ve let my anxiety get the best of me, plus I’m unsure if I can even afford it but I also know I haven’t looked into it. But I want to be better so I’ll be on it, thank you 💛

Even if you don’t get a diagnosis, you can still gain insights from this app and start to getting organised.
