I used to take many kinds of adhd meds as a kid, I had a tippedyking them as I had felt they never worked, recently started taking them again to improve my performance at work, was taking Concerta, but it is currently in a nationwide shortage, so now I’m taking FocalinXR and so far it’s a rollercoaster whule my body gets used to the switch (sad-ish part next) my emotions are more pronounced during the day, so far ive been extremely energetic ans ready to work but the other day i wasnt feeling the best and had multiple panic attacks i think? I’ve never really had them before, or at least idk if I have, but today is all better now and I hope it stays that way until my body is used to the meds, sorry for the long rant I just felt like saying something
This shortage is pretty bad I agree. I definitely feel you with the emotional fluctuation. I found i used music a lot to regulate my emotions and it definitely isn’t going to fix my problems but it works most days. I’m sure there see things out there that can help. Your doing great! You got this!
I take adderall 2-3x a day. I only take the third dose if i have late afternoon things to do. I also take Wellbutrin for depression but it helps with emotional regulation as well.
Update: I also 'self-medicate' using THC (cannabis), I know it's not ideal and there's an 'addiction-risk' but I only smoke some when I'm with my SO, plus I don't smoke it every day :) I do smoke regular cigarettes, though, haven't succeeded quitting, yet :/ But I don't consume alcohol, I'm sober since beginning of September 2019 and I plan on keeping it that way💪🏻
Congratulations on sobriety! That’s an achievement to be proud of :) my dad starting medical marijuana in my late teens and its one of the things that helps him too. I didn’t see sun benefits on my end but i know definitely works with some people so I’m glad it’s become a successful option you even with the some potential risk (I know my meds definitely do lol)
I take Effexor daily and it’s helping but I struggle to take my Dexedrine Dexedrine even though I know it helps
I tried Ritalin, Medikinet and Concerta, apparently these are the only three medications for AD(H)D in Luxemburg (Europe) but none of them are the right fit for me. Ritalin did nothing, Medikinet helped a teeny tiny bit but not enough and Concerta made me function pretty well BUT made my clinical depression skyrocket right back into a very bad/su**idal state, soooo that's a no from me, too :/ I'm trying a new therapy now, though, Neurofeedback, if that's something anyone wants to chat about, hit me up^^
Medicine / Medikinet Medikinet (German generic for Ritalin extended release) works really well for me, without side effects so far. Yes, appetite is suppressed, but I track calories to make sure I eat around 1900 calories daily and stay at healthy weight. The medicine does not make me go and do things or “work like a machine” like some people online say. It just quietens my mind enough so that all the time management and todo tools at work and life become usable and useful. The medicine also extensively reduced my impulsive behaviors like impulsive online buying considerably. I’m really grateful that I found the right medicine. It *considerably* improved my overall quality of life! I’ve been on it for 2 months now, I hope it continues working long term.
