Housework, how to?

How do people stay focused and motivated when doing daily chores? I write a list but can never stick to 1 task and end up doing something in every room which then feels like nothing is getting done because I don’t see a change and I look at my house as an overall and think of all the things I need to do and instantly get overwhelmed and burnt out, HELP!!!

They say pomodoro helps. I always feel if I could just get my house in order life would be so much easier

Chores are my absolute nightmare, so even breaking things in small tasks is daunting to me, because it just seems like more work. So I usually convince myself to clean things up for 30 minutes in the morning. I start a timer and try to get as many things done in those 30 minutes as possible, starting by decluttering and making the space look and feel better. If it’s a hard day, I will stop when the timer is done and call it a day, but sometimes I get excited about it and end up setting another timer for extra 30min to finish it up. Using a timer helps my brain to understand that it’s very rewarding to spend these 30 minutes cleaning to have a nicer space. Sometimes I use extra timers during the day (like 15 minutes for laundry at the evening, or things like that). It helps me to know exactly when it will end. Chores can feel never ending sometimes.

One way is to keep going until you see progress. Another way is to first make the list, then prioritize it, then pick the top task and break it down into its own list which you then focus on. I also hire cleaners once a quarter. Having them come in turns up the heat on my brain so I declutter more efficiently right before they get here :)

Change and adapt the chores. There are milion of ways, maybe one task is too dull but all of the tasks are overwhelming? ✨Maybe divide it into morning routine and afternoon one? ✨Or go room by room - this is one that works for me. There is only one rule: NEVER LEAVE THE ROOM WHILE CLEANING IT. :) 😎 Have a box/bag where you accumulate everything that needs to be put away and deal with it at the end. 🤍You probably already have a natural, intuitive flow of doing things in you, but trying to apply neurotypical approch to things made you forget the unique language of your soul. You are your point of reference, check inside how things should be for you. ✨

When I struggle with a task, the trick for me is to break it down to ridiculously small parts, and make each part a task.

I do the same. When I put laundry away I put 5 articles of clothing away at one time and it feels less overwhelming then before I know it it is all put away 😂
