Orcas are fun and pretty based, chasing and ramming Yachts of superrich people.

There are many groups and species of orcas that comunicate in their own language. Orcas that hunt fish cant communicate with the ones that hunt whales and orcas that are from ireland cant comunicate with the ones from norway. If you put them in tanks, then they cant understand each other and often fight. If they are in captivit, then they get ill or can get depressed which shows through their dorsofins. Most of the orcas in captivity have a collapsed dorsofin and their teeths are nearly gone and/ or inflamed because the bite the concrete walls out of stress or frustration. The pools are also way too small for them because they typically swim about 100km per day while in tanks they typically just float. They also live as long as humans so about 80 years and most of the children stay with the mother for their whole life. The "mom" is the leader of the group and the sons stay with her and respect her authority ever though they are huge af. Funfact: they like to yeet seals in the air for fun

The whole family participates in the training of ofsprings, but yes the mother is the primary caretaker but the primary role of the mom is to lead the hunt. Damn

Very interesting! I wonder about the social structure within the groups and family units. For instance, is it the primary role of the mother to train her offspring about hunting techniques, or does the whole group participate? I don't believe Orcas should be held in captivity unless there is a compelling reason to do so. Entertaining humans that don't understand that they shouldn't be there just by looking at the size of their enclosure (and probably think of them as "big black fish" is not, imho

So.. let's hear it! Orca's, huh? Here is my brain dump about them... Killer whales (horrible term) are intelligent marine mammals that have teeth and generally prey on fish and other mammals, even land creatures. They travel in groups called pods and hunt together, sometimes employing complex strategies and tactics. The are generally black and white, birth live calves and communicate in their own language that humans experience as click and whistles. What am I forgetting?

Woah! You have to be careful with this! Doing a deep dive into a favorite topic might be awesome and educational, but then you are stuck with all the sweet details in your head and can't share it with anyone else who is as excited as you are about it. Trying to hand out information seems to anger a lot of people, particularly if they prefer ignorance and apathy to curiosity and joy.
