Tyrosine works like caffeine

So I had been eval’d for stimulant meds (I drink 5-6 cups of coffee EVERY day, minimum of 3, and not for the energy, but for the calm it gives my mind….); they said my “processing speed was too fast (lol, it’s “hyperactivity” for a reason). Looked into possible natural alternatives. I found out I’m way under on my protein intake, and tyrosine (an amino acid) works to boost neurotransmitters. I had been taking Strattera, but it sometimes would make me sleepy. Tyrosine does the same thing, without the “crash.” And I have needed less caffeine this past week. Overall, it makes me feel less emotionally reactive, and my mind is more “empty,” rather than on a hamster wheel all day (nice for when I need to brainstorm ideas, not so much when I need to concentrate).

I’ve tried tyrosine as well after I’ve read a lot about it, but sadly I don’t really feel any effect 🙈

I’m on a keto diet, so I’m shootings for 80-100 grams of protein a day. But maybe I should up that even more 🤷🏼‍♂️

Wondering, what does your protein intake look like? I believe tyrosine relies on other amino acids to have the best effect.

I’m the same, drinking to much coffee, feeling like I’m trapped in my body with a lot of energy but my body is just heavy and tired and frozen… Can’t concentrate and need to walk to ease the feeling of bursting energy. Coffee helps me to feel calm. How long have you taken Tyrosine? Feeling less emotionally reactive will be a blessing as i feel really anxious these past weeks for no reason

1.5 weeks. In general, I find increasing protein, too, has helped significantly. Especially with having a high metabolism.
