Time blindness struggles

With time blindness you typically think of being late to things. But in reality, this also affects the way we predict how long something is going to take to do. So, even though in reality, folding the laundry is only gonna take 15 minutes. To me it feels like it’s going to take 3 hours. idk if anyone else struggles lol. So if you relate plz let me know I’m not alone lol.

You are most definitely not alone. I deal with this daily. Thinking a couple sections in my class (teachers college) can be done in one week, and it takes me two weeks

Oh for sure. I'm a CPA and have to budget and track my time for billing. I 100% of the time massively underestimate the amount of time something is going to take me. It's the worst!

I deal with both. I have to set alarms on my phone to take meds and leave on time for work, but I also can’t do anything if I have an appointment that day, even if it has a set time to start and finish 😅

Oh my god yes. I’ll be like “I’ve got a doctors appointment at noon so I can’t plan anything until 5” when in all seriousness the appointment couldn’t possibly be longer than 30 minutes.

Lately I’ve been experiencing that, I didn’t even know what it was until I read this

Oh my goodness, yes! I’ve learned that at work to be very open with my inability to sense the passing of time. At my previous job, I had been repeatedly asked to give a timeframe in which I am going to complete something. No one believed me when I said that I didn’t know. This was before I knew what time blindness was. I got chewed out for not completing assignments on time, too. I’m very open about my ADHD and its symptoms, such as time blindness, at my new job. The people here are so understanding and supportive! They seem to get that five minutes and 25 minutes are the same to me.

Time blindness works in an odd way for me. Like there’s never enough time. I’m on my last leg with my time and attendance at work lol I think all parts of my morning routine will take only a minute to do but then I blink and 20 minutes has passed! The same at work, I think one task will take a couple short minutes but then after digging in, I look up and then I see I’ve lost 40 minutes of my life and didn’t realize. That’s not so good when I’m a manager and there were breaks to cover that hour. I struggle with quantities as a whole but time management is a constant battle for me.

Yes it's the same for me and the only way I've found to trick my brain is to challenge myself to do it very quickly, like it's a game in which I have to beat the timer . And even if I don't usually get there in 10 minutes, I still finish because I've made good progress.
