Resource Guarding?

I tend to get really excited about certain snacks/treats, but I either wind up forgetting they exist (despite putting them out in the open) or justifying that it’s not the right moment. This leads to things expiring, or in general getting to a point I’m no longer interested, and I hate the waste of it. Any suggestions how to combat this?

The best thing is not to buy additional things if you haven't run out of it. Plan your meals maximum for 3-4 days and buy only those things you need for the recipe. You will end up with a clean fridge, all the ingredients will be in the eyesight

My S/O moved in with me recently, and he started rearranging the kitchen (I truly didn't even care, I just let him do it!! Lol) but then he got to the pantry, fridge, and freezer... He couldn't believe all the expired food I had. Some of it was even from the COVID grocery hoarding era when we thought we'd never see the outside world again 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ so I threw it all out and started over. I'm not allowed to bring new food in unless we are out (milk, eggs, bread, or other staples) or the food that has been fronted in pantry/fridge/freezer is eaten. So far it's working, but I have the grocery nazi watching me :) It is kinda nice to be honest, having someone who is handling that issue because it wears me out to do it myself. Ok. I did buy a bunch of groceries today while he was at work LMAO
