Flow state ?

Have any hacks to get yourself intentionally into flow state / hyper focus ? Thanks

Seems like music 🎶 is the winner for most of us 😄 scented candles like lemon 🍋 or orange 🍊 sometimes help me too.

I listen to breakcore music because its usually just enough to keep me energised without distracting me with lyrics!! if music isnt something that helps then setting aside a place or time for work (having a routine) may help instead

Not something specific to ADHD but Cal Newport, when advising people on productivity, says that having a place dedicated to your « deep work », with some specific music, or just routine (always preparing yourself a cup of tea, taking the same « deep work » pen, etc.) helps your brain think « Now it’s deep work time ! ». ASMR too, or just a Pomodoro video on YouTube with a environment you like (Hogwarts Library, etc.) : he says it helps you take on a very specific kind of task by « wiring » your brain on the « right » channel… I hope I’m clear enough… 😅 And by the way I never managed to apply these principles - but I do find them sensible, and maybe you’ll be able to !

Omw somebody else that hates pomodoro!! Never could get it to work for me and then dealt with major imposter syndrome bc it’s such a common ADHD hack 🙈

OMG Pomodoro soooooooo disrupts my hyper focus the only thing it’s good for is getting started! (Sorry I hate it with a passion and don’t understand how it helps people with ADHD because for me it is a bundle of everything I suck at- the breaks break my flow can’t get started again- am hyper aware of time- hypes my anxiety, etc.) Ok. Now my rant is done. Music, scented candles are my best friend A straightened up space to work in etc.

Music sometimes helps me. Something upbeat, like when you exercise.
