How to live here and NOW

we live in our imaginations and replay the past while living in the present Or too many thoughts just come up to our brain and knock knock endlessly🥲 Yesterday I've found that being aware of the now through smell is more helpful than I thought it would be. I bought a cushion full of cypress(hinoki tree) chips a few days ago. The cushion has natural woody smell, and when I start to smell it, my brain is suddenly aware of the "now." it gives me a ‘what am I doing!!?’moment lol Thanks to that smll I was able to stop random thought! Try finding an object with a scent you like!

A small bottle of peppermint essential oil that I can carry does it for me! The tingle of a small amount on temples or nape might also help.
